    Description

    Edward S. Curtis portfolio of five reproduction prints from 'Portraits of The North American Indian', in good condition.  NOTE THERE ARE 3 FROM THE ORIGINAL PORTFOLIO, PLUS 4 MORE" BONUS PRINTS" THAT WE ARE UNSURE OF ORIGIN!"
    The four  portfolio prints l prints are on high quality heavy paper and measure 14 X 18 inches, and were made from the original photogravures from a private collection of the original E.S. Curtis photogravures of the North American Indian, exclusively for Natural History Magazine.  . Believe these have lived there lives in the portfolio cover.  The outer portfolio has foxing/
    discoloration
    and some folds at corners but no tears/
    All have some discoloration on border or mat area. but images are fine.  May have some minor folding/creasing on corners.
    There were probably more than 4 in this original set; but three remaining are:

    Though not part of this original portfolio, we are including 3 separate prints.  there are no tears, but minor bolding to corners.    On a thinner paper, and we do not know the origin but possibly from another 70s portfolio  are

    The first print is: 'Canon de Chelly', Navajo, Plate 28 from 1904. The second is 'The Storm', Apache, Plate 9 from 1906. The third is: 'A Painted Tipi', Assiniboin, Plate 633 from 1926. The fourth is: 'Plagating the Spirit of a Slain Eagle', Assiniboin, Plate 634 from 1926. The fifth is: 'The Rush Gatherer', Kutenai, Plate 255 from 1910. These were produced directly from a private collection of the original E.S. Curtis photogravures of the North American Indian, exclusively for Natural History Magazine.
